Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 can Rotel Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies
  • 4 tbsp chili powder (to taste)
  • 2 tbsp paprika (to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp red cayenne pepper (to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups tomato sauce (I used Private Selection Napoletana Roasted Garlic Sauce)
  • 1 can Dark Red Kidney Beans

Optional

  • 4 cloves garlic minced/crushed
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 can corn

Garnishes

  • Sour Cream
  • Chives/Green Onion
  • Parsley
  • Shreded Cheese (I like Mexican Blend Mix)

Instructions

  • Place turkey in a frying pan on high heat. Oil is not necessary, because the turkey will give off fluid.
  • Use a spatula to break the turkey into small pieces. If onion and garlic is decided to be added, do so after the turkey is properly broken up.
  • After the turkey is evenly browned, add a can of rotel diced tomatoes with the juice.
  • Add 2 tbsps of chili powder, 2 tbsp of paprika, the cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper and garlic powder. Taste it, and add the rest of the chili powder and any more spice that you might want to add.
  • Add the 2 cups of tomato sauce, mix, and let it simmer on low heat for a few minutes. If it starts spitting and is too thick, add half a cup of water to the tomato sauce can, swirl around and add that to the chili.
  • Finally, wash and strain the dark red kidney beans and add them to the chili. If you are adding corn, add corn!
  • Turn off heat and you are done! Add garnishes! Eat it in a taco, eat it on rice. Ya know, just wing it!
